Editing and proofreading for medicine and the life sciences

  • high quality specialist copy editing and proofreading for medicine and the life sciences
  • edited over a thousand articles for publication in medical and life science journals
  • vast experience in correcting texts by non-native users of English

  • I provide copy editing services within medicine and the life sciences. Physicians, scientists, editors and publishers use my services to bring article manuscripts up to the relevant standard before publication in journals, and to improve other texts within the biomedical field: abstracts, books, conference material, presentations, correspondence, theses, reports, legal papers, technical documentation, and others.

    Experience

To date I have helped achieve the publication of over a thousand medical and scientific articles, as well as numerous abstracts, full-length books and other texts. For a list of medical and biological fields in which I have copy editing experience, see here.

    Skills

As an Oxford-trained biologist as well as a qualified English teacher and translator, I bring to biomedical publishing a combination of language skills and scientific knowledge, including a vital understanding of experimental design and statistical methods. I collaborate on a daily basis with research scientists, physicians, authors, journal editors and translators, together ensuring that each text is brought to the highest possible level before publication.

    Specialization

I specialize in working on manuscripts written by non-native speakers of English. With nine years of experience in editing translations and texts by authors using English as a foreign language, I can make sure these manuscripts are given their best chance of meeting publication requirements.

    Range of services

I provide three levels of editing services, from basic proofreading up to full editing services, depending on how much work on the manuscript is required to meet the relevant standards.
